After reading the forums, we understand our Kak would probably like some bark and such on the ground to grind. Any opinions on using pinecones? Fresh or dried?
Does anyone get bark off of trees for Kaks to root around in and tear up? Do you get "fresh" bark or old bark?
Do you use a vinegar - water solution to clean?
Or, do you think using items like the above is just a bad idea?
We use pine cones, then as the weather warms up they open.
Pine cone seeds are VERY expensive to by, they are real high in alsorts of things, and historically armies used to march across europe and Asia on them...light weight high nutrition.
Rome would have never have got to Britton without them.
Bark on the ground..looks nice at 1st the a heap of work to clean up...
Gets damp, harbours worm eggs etc.
Also the kakariki get dirty and sort of stained from the bark dust.
A large bowl of diry dirt packed down works well,
