uhmmm...so to them is like this...they woke up in the morning ,they eat ...one of them(Jolie) she ,,speak,, in her voice some minuts ....they are active in them cage a time ...and after this they get sleepy ....then they eat again ,again they make activity and then again they get sleepy.......when i let them free...they fly ....in the room...watching ,a little bit activity...and then they take a pause something 30 minuts...and then again they fly...then again pause......and so much they don't ,,speak,,(also between them)but they kiss between them......i thought maybe they are still little ? and they need power .........with food .....somebody told me to don't give them apple ,or so much green things because they take so soft kaka from this......and with worms.....i still don't think that they have this...and here i don't have a microscope Sad

How old are they? If they're only young I wouldn't give them anything to hard. I'm pretty new when it comes to Kakarikis, only had mine about 6 months (he was 3 years old when I got him), but I feed him plenty of apple and greenery and he's happy and healthy :)

If you're afraid your birds are unhealthy then you should take them to a vet, if you have a bird specialist in your area they should be able to help you out Wink

"Somebody"......you have here members who would be the top specialist breeders with a combined several 100yrs hands on experiance...
If I was wrong in saying kakariki by 3 months will be eating 2/3 to 3/4 veg and fruit....these ppl will say so.
Kakariki in the wild live in sub tropical rain forest....there are very few if any "grass" seeds like in 'parrot seed'
How well capitive kakariki move to a more natural diet after being hand raised or parent not on the CORRECT diet...I do not know.
All our parrots are parent raised on correct diet.

I've only got a few months experience keeping Kakariki's. all the knowledge Ive gained is from the people off this site. I have found that by adapting what people like Steps say I have made my birds life's a lot better than if I had just looked after them like they where cockatiels as the pet shop I got them from said. All birds are individuals, its like having a newborn baby, you have to adapt their diet to each individual bird. i.e. mine now feed on fresh fruit and veg before they go for seed. I put all fruit and veg that I will eat in their cage I look at what they do not touch and after about a week I stop putting it in, Its a case of trial and error. If we eat it its O.K. for our birds. With a few exceptions apple seeds etc. If your birds appear to be happy with the food you put in for them the chances are you have got their diet right. (I've had to increase the size of the pieces of fruit and veg to what is recommended on this site). If the sound you describe as "soft kaka" is the sound my birds make I take that as contentment.
Please excuse my rambling but I've just got in from the pub.
