I lost one of my Conures this morning. She was egg bond yesterday so took her inside to a warm cage, she passed the egg late lass nigth but passed away abot 9.00 this morning. I'm so gutted. Rest in peace Twister.
Sry to hear that....
Egg binding is a very stressful way to loose a bird..
We have lost 2 over the yrs....see an old post...
Lack of calcuim....we no longer use Ca additives, just pumice sand in the bottom of the avairies...never lost or had a problem since
The cctv thread, the female we suspect had a issue...and pumice sand (#3 builders sand from the local builders suppies NZ) was not supplied regular.
My wife simply, at the 1st suspected sign, used a little cooking oil in an eye dropper up the oriface, and egg was laid.
Even if the egg is eventually laid, because the egg goes hard inside, it is very likely to cause damage and internal hemoraging inside. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
To get so close to breeding (which no else has done in the S Island) and lose her is just so heart breaking. If any one knows any one breeding GC Conures I’d be real keen on 3 hens and 1 cock. We have two lonely cocks.
