Heya all greetings from Serbia :).

I hope you can help me bit out. For a long time I had Resencolins ( ithink thats the right name) and my whole famile really adored him, cause he was so friendly. Unfortunately he escaped, so I went to get another bird. There I saw kakariki's, and it was love on first sight. But since I dont know anything about kakikis need some advices.

Got my Misko 4-5 months ago ( he had 6 months according to seller) and I find him extremly shy. Rosecolins was rly friendly after a month and half, but Misko still refuses to play with us, or even land on our heads, shpulders etc.
He lives in 30x20x60 cage and he is happy with size. I feed him regulary, change water etc. Only thing I managed to do is do feed by my own hand, but every time I try to near my finger/hand without food he runs away,
soo my question is how to I get friendly with it, should I "ignore" him like I read somewhere here, or do something else.

Also I am posting image of him (poor quality though), so maybe you can tell me is he, he or she :).

Thx in advance,

Hobetko Nebojsa[/img]

Welcome to our communty
The 1st thng u mst realise about kakariki is they are very different in personality to all other parrots...
They are very independant by nature, do what they want when they want.
If at the time they want to playwith u good
Ths has a upside, most other parrots can become emotionally depentant on the owner, then when dont get the attention , start feather plucking and can get agressive or withdrawn.
Every parrot has their own personality, just becase people have a one before, it doesnt mean the next one will be the same...they will be very diffrent.
Its a matter of watching their habits, u learnng when to back off, getting their unconditional trust, and taking advantage of habts they have.
