Hi guys,
Please bare with me as I am new to this site.
A few months ago I acquired what I now know is a Kakariki which was found outside a pub, after we were unsuccessful finding an owner I took it on as had a lovely cage at home reasonable size as used to have a cockatiel in it. Anyhow I have been away to which my friend has been looking after the bird in her aviary. My husband has now built us an aviary to which we are putting outside and just want a little bit of info on introducing the bird as we think ours would like a friend. I have the new bird currently inside but am trying to acclimatise it by keeping near a window which is slightly open so he/she can get used to temperatures. We live in Cornwall (UK) so it doesnt get that cold here, my first kak is already used to temp. I though I would introduce both to aviary at same time so they on neutral territory?? any help would be much appreciated, and I do apologise if my queries have already been covered in another thread. Thanks inanticipation

It amazes me this can happen in England, and would never happen in their native country
Anyway to our community

You think right...we just moved 8 kakariki from 3 flights into a new flight.
And to kil 2 birds with 1 stone (pardon the pun) If u are worried about acclimatisation, its not so much the temps but wind/ cill factors, so if you put them in the flight, and tacked some cheap shade or wind cloth to stop dafts for a week or so...
We have heavy sun shade cloth that folds up from the bottom, and can basically encase the whole of the open sides of the avairies....
We use this when in winter, with the odd hurricane or big storm that has horozonal driving rain. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
