Hi there ours eggs are near to hatching but the parents wont eat egg food we have been putting it in the avairy since the first egg was laid they have fresh food every day things like apple pears peas sweetcorn carrots salad foods and other fruit and veg which we scatter over the avairy we also mix the seed foods our self plus just normal seed that is bought already prepepard
Do they need to eat the egg food or is it just for when the chicks hatch what if they dont eat it when they have hatchlings
will the chicks be ok if they dont eat it
thanks

Hello Gillie,

I feed eggfood every day. Beside proteines it provides essential vitamins and minerals. In my opinion they need it every day. To what extent they take it up depends on individual taste but also on the brand name. From my experience it seems that 'White mills' eggfood has the best flavour.

W dont feed any egg food ...just a varied normal diet similar to what u describe above....and a free titbits of chicken /red meat left over from the dinner table.

Usually if the birds have been getting a good balanced natural diet for a long time they will not bother with processed foods,

They do enjoy a few cat biskets ..think cause they are smallish and hard and good to crumble up.
