Please help!! I have a pair of Kakariki's and have food available for them all day,IS THIS RIGHT or should i have a set feeding time..The hen is able to fly around very well but the cock seems to be getting fat and flies like a brick
We feed fresh veggies morning and evening, and fruit during the day
Seed is refilled 0nce a week, sometime 2 weeks
They eat the sunflower and hi oils seed 1st and are forced to eat most of the rest
Do not feed dried fruits or hi sugar stuff _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
I have the one Kaka and feed her fresh vegies every day. I leave her tray of food in her cage all day. She is out of her cage whenever I am home and flies about, going back to her cage to feed during the day. After reading on this site to cut the food into pieces about half the size of a pea, which I now do, I have noticed she spends more time foraging through her food and actually eating more as opposed to tossing it out before hand. Her food tray also has seed and strawberries and once a week she is given some chicken bone and meat. I rotate the variety of fruit and vegies for her. As Steptoe mentioned, my kaka also eats all the sunflower seeds first, and then she has to eat what's left before I change her seed supply. Leaving the food in with her all day doesn't seem to be a problem. She is very active and moves about all day.
