Hello ---

Thank you for this forum.. i have a new Kakariki and am trying
to find out as much as possible about them. The bird is supposed
to have been born Sept. of 06 and has been in a pet store for most of this
time.. Was told the bird has OCD and pitches a fit if the toys are
moved in the cage... Moved the bird to a new cage along with the
toys and all seems quite fine.. At the moment the bird is sitting on
the arm of the couch and jumps to the shoulder and has been enjoying
a bit of apple and cracker. The only concern is it seems extremely quiet.
It has taken a couple of flights and was active in the cage for a short
time but over all makes a few chortling sounds and that's about it...

Have been enjoying the forum as it has given much information to
process...

This is going on the second full day with the bird being called Yoko
So far so good.

Does anyone have any timely hints for a new kakariki owner ?

Thank you Think

OK lets put the animal in the wild, unfamilar sourounding, doesnt know where trees are or what is lurking behind them, and doesnt want to attract attention....still sorting out places to obsever from and places that will not fall over when lands on them

You see the 'picture'?
Once he gets his bearings...who will be boss signlol

Hello ---

Finally settled on a name for him... KokiKoki Kea...

He makes it known that he wants to come out for a time in
the morning... He get's some treats -- sits on the shoulder -
sits on the arm of the couch - takes a flight and then back
to his house... hahahahahaha So far that is his routine...
Maybe he will spend more time out as he gets more comfortable...

OM Shanti

Yes but being comfortable in HIS cage/bedroom is very important to keep that.

Hello

Kiko Kea can come out when he wishes --- and enjoys his time in
his house... No one disturbs his time in the cage... He can
and does have ways to let it be known when he wants to come
out... Am enjoying his presence here...

thank you
