Hello,
I have had my bird for aroung 7 weeks! i started to get a rash after having him around 2/3 weeks. The rash are hard bumps on my arms, stomach and back! At first the Dr thought it was chickpox .... anyway it isnt! and i have been off work for two weeks and the rash isnt getting better!
My bird is a house bird an rarely in his cage and when i put him in his cage he tries his hardest to get out and i hate seeing him in distress,
Could my spots be linked to bert do you think??? he does poo here and there but i always clean it up!
Im no doctor....
No I dont believe it is an allergy, rather the birds may have had/have some sort of mite, that you have picked up
I had a similar thing happen about 20 yrs ago with a new bird.
ist it arash or sort of timy insect type ish bites, that come up with a tiny blister thing?
It turned out, that at the time my body was low on vitimin B s which lowered my 'resistance' to mites/insect bites and such.
I ended up in quite a mess for a couple weeks.
The doctor gave me vit b suppliments...which take a while to build up in the blood system....weeks and from memory, a hydrocorozone cream??
The house parrot we misted sprayed with 50/50 vinegar/water and repeated several times over the next few weeks.....today I would still mist spray the bird/ cage etc, but also treat with invermectin ..a drop on the back of the neck and repeat after 12 to 14 days, twice.
Good consistant balanced diets are very important for our pets to maintain their condition and resistance.....and the same goes for us.
As for allergy, I have only heard of 1 person 'allergic' to a parrot, and that was a large sulphur crested that give off a lot of feather dust...kakariki dont.....they would get runny ichy eyes, and blocked , runny nose... sort of like hay fever. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
yes they do come out in blisters! not a rash! sort of here and there! but the dr said today its unlikely to be the bird! but i have treated him with mite stuff anyway!! which he didnt like one little bit and sulked for a while!
