Hi everyone me and my partner have been looking to buy a Kakariki for sometime now but with no luck...untill now, we have seen a young one for sale but need to know a few things before we take the plunge. How old are they normally when they are removed from their parents? If they are being handreared how many weeks old should they be when you move them onto soaked pellets? How old are they when they begin to grow their adult feathers? And also at which age can you tell the sex of them?
If anyone could answer any of these questions it would be very helpful.

all our kakariki are avary raised

Weaned off parents about 2 weeks after emerging from the nest..just as the iris forms

about 3 weeks from hatching

a week or so after hatching, often a few days after hatching
