Kakariki ship travel very well over long distances...1000 odd kms and time 16 /24 hrs

We shipped not long ago 12 kakariki, from one end of NZ to another, in a custom made ply box, divided in 2 compartments.
Total size 500mm 200mm high, 250mm wide.
The top screwed down, each side with its own lid
The ends had 4 12mm holes as did the lids on each side.
The 12mm holes had mesh over so the could not stick their legs out

For food/water ...they where well feed on fresh veggies/fruit before hand
Inside a handful of seed, a hand full of frozen green peas/sweet corn, a couple 1/4s of apple and 1/2 a caspicum with no seeds
in each 1/2.
The capsicum is very high in water content.

The shipping involved a plane flight of 3 hrs including handling each end, then a car trip of nearly 8 hrs.

All arrived in good spirits and health.

Shame that I currently does not have the economy to travel to England back and forth...would love to get some new blood.

Good luck tho, finding a new home to your birds.
