Okay,
So when my roommate and I split, I'd fallen in love with her kakariki, Birdman. He's a little jerk though, but I have a lot of hopes for him. He comes out of his cage and sits on my shoulder, says lots of things like "Mr. Birdman!", "Whatever", "What are you doing?", and "You're so cuuute." But he will not let you anywhere near him with your hands. He attacks you if you put your hand in his cage, and get very angry when you try and hand feed him anything.
She says she thinks he was squeezed as a baby or something, but isn't sure what advice to give me to make him more comfortable.
Now, I am at work at lot, so I wanted to get him a friend. I can't find any other kakarikis in my area so I went with a female parakeet whom we've named Dorothy. It's only been one night, and he's already being much more affectionate now that I am petting her, and showing lots of attention to the both of them. I think I may have opened some doors, but how do I keep it going?
Also, I know they are both parakeets, but will they ever have problems getting along? So far so good, but I don't want him to be mean to her (she's much smaller and way more mellow).
