Can you keep a Kakariki and a Cockatiel in the same cage?

I have always kept them separate but have sometimes put the cockatiel in Birdie's cage. He seems a little bit afraid of her but then a couple of times, he has gone to "peck" her but she has hissed back at him and puts him in his place.

I know the cockatiel would never hurt Birdie but do you think Birdie might hurt the cockatiel?

The cockatiel seems a lot happier in his cage, a lot more things to do, much bigger, etc.

Just wondering if I can keep them together now???

Ohhh but if they were both put in a new cage together at the same time, it wouldn't be one invading the other's territory, would it?!?

Polly seems to be ok, just wanders around the cage to find the food and water. Birdie...well, he's a kakariki, so you know what he's like...always busy, always running around.

What if I just change the cage around, change all the perches, all the toys? Otherwise, it makes it an expensive exercise to buy a new cage when I have two perfectly good cages already???
