Hi there i recently gt a pair of kakis. They are very shy and are not hand tamed yet.
what is the best way to do this?
so they get use to it?

at what point do u let them out of their cage to fly around house?

The answers to most of your questions are in the old forums posts data base
On the left is a quick search box and a search button above
words like taming dim lights

When they have established their cages as there terrority, bed room, safe place...

Hand traming, even a fully wild kakariki will be tamed enough to jump on a hand in the cage within a couple days, hand feed in 3 o4 for days in the cage...

Run a word search for trust

There are nearly 8 years of threads covering all aspects of kakariki in these forums, ...often repeated over and over
you may like to also search the word teflon..it will kill your birds.

By putting the word taming into the "quick search block" to the left gives you these threads to read thru

Let them out before you feed them, they will go back into thier cage when they are hungary.
To get them used to you sit by their cage with your hand in the cage holding a favourite titbit, they will come to get it! BE PATIENT!! It takes time.
They have got to get used to you. Its just like courting your partner.
you have to gain their trust.
