This could be a sign od crop worms, if not dealt with often fatal.
They seem ok for a while, then could sneeze, and often throw up...this is when things get seruois and potentually unreversable.
Invermectin doesnt hit all worm types, I would make an appointment with the vet to get your bird crop dosed. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
Posted: Sat Aug 21, 2010 2:00 pm Post subject: Why Animals Yawn
Healthy vertebrate animals appear to stretch or yawn. This is known as a pandiculation and the process of the pandiculation is what resets the resting levels of muscles. This is how animals remind their nervous system to reset thus keeping the muscles ready and functional.
You're right on, most animals do 7-10 pandiculations in the morning and up to 40-50 throughout the day.
We, Hanna Somatic Educators®, use this very process to teach people what is known as Somatics Exercises so they can instantly reduce muscle stiffness and pain.
Animals have known and continue to practice this simple form of hygiene and for us we can pandiculate our way to health too.
When a parrot does ity enough to 'entertain' or be a noticable trait
Treat with utmost caution.
Having anything from 40 to 90 parrots, and avairies right next to where we have coffee, in full veiw of my office and the lounge..2.4 meters away, over many yrs we have had the opportunty to oberve them ...
Such behavoiur if occassional, observred couple times over a wekk at the most..is normal. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
There are 3 avian vets that I can get to
Can't book anything until Monday with two of them
And the other only has an appointment end of next week
I got me some Anti-Parasite Spot On for small birds which contain Ivermectin today
She's already not scratching as much now :)
As for the yawning:
She does it once a week not everyday
Over the last four weeks I've seen her do it 5/6 times
Only in the evenings, which I thought she might be too tired and maybe adjusting from her previous routine
Each time she yawns up to 10 times
They're sort of yawn and neck stretch at the same time
As for the yawning:
She does it once a week not everyday
Over the last four weeks I've seen her do it 5/6 times
That I would not worry about
Quote:

That could be a bit of a worry...Early sign of crop worms
Keep an eye out if starts throwing up or trying to.
Get to a vet real quick then, not treated the bird can go down in less than 24 hrs. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
