I'm looking at getting one of those cages with the metal seed catcher that goes around the bottom of the cage.

Do they stop the mess?

Where can I get one (I'm in Sydney)?

What sort of bird
When we had budgies. my wife made up a sort of sack with elastic in the top
It fitted around the base of the cage and 4" up the sides
The seed trays that fitted into the wires where below the top of the sock/bag thing

Or could do what I have in breeding cages....same principle as what we have in the avaries, a plastic tray about 6" deep 6" long and 4" wide...and seed in the bottom about 1/2"
That way ..if kakariki, they dont scratch around in the tray and throw it everywhere

Those trays look good but they have to extend beyoiund where the spread is on the floor...generally that is huge and impractical
