This morning one of my Red Fronted Kakarikis has a bad eye. If he were human, it looks like he got a black eye. He was OK yesterday, then that was the first thing I saw this morning.
I'm not sure if it's an infection that sprouted fast or he had an accident.

I looked at other pics of eyes here and they don't look the same.
But I saw this thread
http://www.kakariki.net/ftopict-303.html

I've had kaks for 20 yrs and this is a new one.

What ever the cause, get him onto some wide spectum antibiotics.
It is generally the secondary infections that cause the greater damage.
Can he still see?
Any sign of catactact or glucoma?

Keep in mind a swollen eye without being a sec infection and glucoma has swelling, and if the eye is damaged maybe a grey spot in the center.
Also it is extremely painful for the bird....requiring pain killers.

Well, he's fine now. I have no clue what happened or what he did. Maybe his brother punched him.
It really looked like a shiner.
