I have had a big problem with my birds and their seed. I looked online for a feeding cup that could at least lessen the amount of seed vacuumed from my carpet, and I came up with an idea...
You know the containers that meat from the supermarket? I washed them thoroughly and cut 2 small holes for the cup and attached them to the cage. It doesn't stop it completely, but it does help keep it in the cage instead of my carpet... Give it a try... Nothing to lose right?
Good idea... a throw rugg or blanket under the cage also makes quick clean up easy, espec when expecting visitors
Others have a 'sock' that fits around the lower cage to prevent seed /water making a mess outside.
We had large cage for our king house parrot, and started with a large deep container in the bottom of the cage....we use the same principle in our avairies, deep containers that hold 3 weeks seed supply.
With our king house parrot, the cage was never locked or closed, even when on holiday. It was his place to roost, and go back to if felt insecure, and to poo. Outside the cage we had a large perch, feeding bowls with a large stainless dish underneath...all his feeding was there.....drinking/ bath water was inside the cage.
Under the perch a throw blanket/mat....was easier to move the perch than the cage to replace the mat. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
Another good way too keep the mess to a minimum is have a seeds bowl attached to the end of a perch as I have in the pic. That positions the bowl to the middle of the cage.[img][/img]
