I have two kaks, male and female and they are coming up about a year old now. Obvoiusly they have gone through differing behaviours as they have grown, the female, Megan seems to be happy and content now. However Luigi is another story! He has so much energy its unreal, when he comes out he is so hyper, wanting to hide under thinks and generally having a good nose and being up in our business! When he is nosing about he pecks at everything within sight, even me, which really hurts. When he was younger the tap on the beak worked, but now it doesnt. He also seems more protective of megan, i was wondering if giving them a nesting box for privacy would make these better or worse. Is it normal for him to be so hyper and to want to eat/peck... everything? any suggestions on how to calm him down would be of use.

Thanks

Give them a nesting box and they will start to breed... then they need a 2nd, and u need somewhere to keep the young...
Also the female will spend near all her time in the nesting box(s)

With a male and female the male tends to check everything out protecting the female, the female becomes far more passive...unless something comes in close to a nesting box she feels threatens it and then she can get real aggressive.. more than the male.

Do not tollerate ANY behavours u dont approve of...biting pecking, sitting on heads etc....a damn good , low voice "That is unacceptable" growl... failing that a good tap, or as u growl a finger pressed on the back....As a alpha male will do in a flock... And if he argues back...u argue that smiggen stronger.... and tell him in no uncertain terms where the boiling pot is kept to Wink
