hi,

today when control the cage of my kikes raco and jane.. Two problems.

problem 1: 7 eggs in the box, and 1 broken and on the floor. with hard shell. did she dropped an egg in the cage by accident or could it be something else??

problem 2: I saw she was like almost totally bald in the low abdomen. I couldn't see very obvious, because she is very hard to grab. Could this be of sitting in the wooden nest box on her eggs. because there are lots of little fluff feathers in the nest box between the woodchips. she has put al the woodchips on the side . in the middle are the eggs ,just right on the wood base.

My boyfriend told me this, I wasn't home today so I can't tell more than what I see now. I can try to make a picture if that can help?

Occasionally a hen will drop an egg outside the nesting box... dont know why but happens every now and then. As they get older very rare.
As to the "baldness" on the lower chest, thats normal when the hen sits on eggs... it is a good sign because it shows she is going in the nesting box and doing it properly.
All good.
Dont keep checking up on them... leave then to it, espec if its their 1st or 2nd time
