So my kaki hen keeps coming off her nest. Shes out now and the eggs are still warm but i'm worried shes leaving them too long!! she's had eggs before and two chicks dead in shell. the other eggs were empty. Should I take the eggs out and incubate to make sure they survive? or leave them and see how she does? I dont want any more dead chicks Sad I was planning on taking the chicks away at 2 weeks to hand rear and sell on anyway. Thanks.

Could be she has been hand reared.. birds hand reared and /or incubated eggs espec after a couple generations screw anywhere between sitting to abandon or damaging chicks.
Also same with males which may not supply the hen with food while sitting or look after chicks later on.

If this is the 2nd time, remove eggs and incubate... hand raise.

I missed the "5 months " and 2nd batch?
u sure only 5 months.. this is around the time for a hens 1st batch.
Also with young birds for their 1st few times... leave them alone.. dont check nesting boxes, disturb....the have to have full confidence in security of the nest and surrounding area....
