my kakariki have 3 eggs so far and she is very pretective of them she sitts on them in the day time but as soon as it gets dark she is in the shed with her boyfriend.
see they have a big aviery on the side of a shed witch they love its full of toys and allsorts but the eggs are out side in a cubby hole and because she isnt sitting for great periods of time will they still hatch or hasnt she finished layin yet.

Kakariki normally lay between 5 and 10 eggs in a clutch so I would suggest she will lay more eggs. These are laid every second day so it may take a while for her to finish laying. The hen will start incubating the eggs when she is ready. That is usually after the second egg but it is not uncommon for them to wait until the 4th or 5th egg is laid before they sit tight. The fact she spends all day on the box is a good sign. Hens will often stay in the box but not sit on the eggs until they are ready. You should find she will start staying in the box full time over the next week or so.

It is supposed to be warm/humid/hot in the nest box, that is how they incubate. If she gets too hot she will come out for a refreshing bath.

Congrats on the eggs! I am still waiting for mine to lay.
