Would they be as common as say budgies or cocteils?
Any yellow crown?
And any difficulty in sourcing good pure stock....lack of hybridisation
Im asking out of interest, as kakariki are native to NZ, practically unknown to 90% of the population, illegal to keep unless have a permit and endangered.
With members in Netherlands, Spain, Belgium Canada , Aussie, US one get a good sense of kakariki in those counties,..... Israel interesting. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
"I will answer you in Hebrew, if you can figure out something that would be great.
For your questions, I do not know how common Ahakckeryakim with you, how are we all not as common as Koaktleime, Thokonim or love birds ..
They are less common in our Green Czech establishes speak.
////Ahakckeryakim kakariki?
Koaktleime, Thokonim????
They are less common in our Green Czech establishes speak.????
For your question on the forehead / crown / crown, the crown is not full, there are parts of red, I could be wrong and here in Israel, but I have not seen in reality or in pictures.
///So I gather you have a lot of mybridisation?
With a question about the source, their source big and strong, sometimes even bigger than usual.
For example I have a really big pair of Akckeryaki size of Rosella.
//Kakariki size of a rosella...we have very big kakarki biut never the size of a roellla, they are near 2x the size of a kakariki.
We hold Akckeryakim laws in the country, are not endangered and they breed excellent.
////you have laws? what sort?
If you understand something please answer me back, thanks."

Thanks for making the effort of posting here and writing in English. Donīt worry about making mistakes, we are here to spend a good time and communicate.
Very nice pics.
I would think that initial stock in Israel is probably imported from Belgium/Netherlands, thus they will probably suffer the similar difficulties with hybrids we have in Europe.
But... there must be pure stock somewhere, and I hope to find out one day or another. I would think LoroParque in Tenerife made the effort to trace breeders that have pure stock or at least as close to pure as possible.

in Spain and Portugal, itīs very difficult to find good red fronts.
Yellow fronts... almost impossible.
Mutations: most common is dominant pied (green and yellow) and recessive pied (yellow, black eyes). Sometimes you can see a cinnamon, or more rarely a fallow.
But... LoroParque seems to have both species, and price is afforable (50/bird). And apparently they are pure green birds, from pure bloodlines, not hybridized.
Iīm not sure if this is 100% true.
I have tried to find out, but.... no luck so far.
But I have a colleague that has lovebirds from LoroParque, and apparently before they started breeding lovebirds they made a thorough research of the origin of this lovebirds.
The problem is... lovebirds have been imported until a few years ago, but... kakariki havenīt been imported into Europe for 50? years.
For me itīs very expensive right now, because buying 2 pairs means 300, and nobody wants this birds. Very low demand here in Spain and Portugal.
Prices... 20-30 greens, cinnamon and pieds, and 40-60 yellows and fallow, but I think prices will go lower this year. People is not buying birds, and there is the fashion of handfed birds.
But, once in a while someone with interest shows up, and I think if new mutations appear kakariki will earn a lot of popularity.

kakariki havenīt been imported into Europe for 50? years.
From what I understand the 1st went to Australia, Belguim and Germany around the 1860s early 1800s...none exported after around 1923
I cant find any records of any other countries kakariki where sent to in that time, thu suspect quite a few went to Great Britain
And maybe the reason mutaions are so strong outside NZ is most where wild mutation stock, rather than pure wilds.
$NZ5 1 = 1.83 EU
50EU is about $NZ 90
Good Red wilds in NZ tend to go for about $NZ40 to $60 with females being a little more due to shortage/avalibity
Yellow Crown wilds anything from $80 to 120...
Mutations..we dont have any and would hate to even speculate.
Kakariki can only be sourced from a breeder who has a DoC permit and technically cant be purchased as under the wildlife Act 1953 it is illegal to sell NZ native species animals/Birds
Hence there are only a handfull, maybe little more kakariki breeders in the whole of NZ, and even less with yellows.
They can not be kept as 'pets' and only in suitable avaries.
In the last couple yrs DoC has been sending enquires to this web site as to what sort of avairies, care , feeding etc.
The odd thing is DoC has never corrosponded directly , offically oranything with this web site Admin/owners etc....which one would think would be common curtosy at least. _________________ My Spelling is Not Incorrect...It's 'Creative'
mutations are completely natural, it simply happens.
The problem is how humans handle those mutations.
About exports from NZ, I donīt know where LoroParque kakariki come from but itīs difficult they are descendants of pure wilds as per what you say.
Mutations... kakariki have the same potential as ringnecks, budgies, lovebirds etc... itīs a green series bird. But for many years there havenīt been new mutations so I think thatīs why people is loosing interest.
And then even the existing mutations arenīt properly understood by most breeders.
